Went to Lakewood, Ohio to celebrate my mother in law's 90th birthday. She has been sending me news clippings from Darcy Egan, the outdoor writer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, about the local steelhead. John Dalton and Charlie Friedman went to Ashtabula, Ohio in November of 07 and really liked their steelhead guide, Monte Casey.
Well, I booked Monte and let me tell you we had a fantastic day. Morning temp was 15 degrees and I was crying for my mommy in about 15 minutes. The weather warmed up to the high twenties and the fish went ballistic. 7-8 wt. rods with two nymphs, split shot and short casts and you were in the game once you found the fish. We hooked approx. 60 and landed approx. 30 of these beautiful creatures.
Not technical fishing but you have the opportunity to land in one day what the West Coast steelheader will catch in a life time.

Per John Dalton's recommendation I booked Monte Casey for a day on Ashtabula Creek in Ohio just east of Cleveland. We hooked close to 60 fish and landed roughly 30 of these beautiful fish.
